Scotia Instrumentation is seeking an enthusiastic, hardworking Metrology Calibration Technician.
The successful Candidate, will be working in the Metrology workshop and part of one of Scotland's Premier Instrumentation Businesses. We pride ourselves on our high level of service which ensures safety, quality, process efficiency and product innovation.
You would work as part of the team, responsible for servicing, repairing and calibrating all types of machine tool instrumentation such as all micrometer and vernier types including internal, external and 3 point bore mics, vernier height and depth gauges of all sizes; plain and screw thread ring and plug gauges utilising the latest equipment & software; engineers squares and precision levels, dial indicators, lever and plunger types, profile plates and gauging working from and applying product drawing specifications and British standards where applicable.
Balancing your work day between multiple tasks and projects, you would also provide technical support for our sales and repairs desks and our engineering customers.
Along with day to day work commitments you will be expected to visit, when required, various customer premises to carry out onsite calibration within customers own inspection facilities. You will also be involved in the day to day maintenance and servicing of all out in-house standards.
The right person for this role will ideally have had experience with:
- A mechanical apprenticeship within a machine shop environment.
- The use of a machine tool measurement instrumentation.
- The use of computer software from Microsoft or Apple
- Working and contributing in a close nit team.
- Working with and using basic mathematical formulae for calculating angle and taper solutions.
The ideal Candidate will have excellent people skills, be able to work well in a collaborative team environment, and possess the ability to give technical instructions to a non-technical audience.
You will also hold suitable qualifications in Maths and English and preferably hold a college qualification. Training will be given to further enhance and tailor your skills to use Scotia’s systems and follow our procedures.
